5 key facts about this project
The modular pavilion is designed to serve cyclists in a natural environment. Its layout combines functionality with a strong connection to the outdoors. The overall design focuses on offering rest and basic accommodations while inviting users to engage with the surrounding landscape. The pavilion is positioned to enhance travelers' experiences, allowing them to enjoy their surroundings fully.
Design Concept
The structure displays Gothic and Romanesque architectural elements, notably through its arrangement of vertically positioned wooden posts. These posts form a rhythmic composition, creating an inviting space. Glazed sections incorporated into the design maintain an open feel, allowing natural light and views to flow through. A gabled roof complements the traditional European aesthetic, supporting the structure while creating sheltered areas. The integration of an open terrace creates opportunities for visitors to appreciate their scenic surroundings, particularly views of rivers and wooded areas.
Configuration Options
Three different configurations, BASIC, STANDARD, and COMFORT, provide flexibility for users with varying needs. The BASIC cabin caters to short visits, featuring essential amenities like a covered terrace and seating. Cyclists can easily park their bicycles in designated spaces among the structural posts.
Functional Features
The larger STANDARD cabin accommodates overnight stays, offering indoor sleeping areas, shelves, and a dining table. An outdoor fireplace enables cooking and gathering outside. The COMFORT cabin configuration introduces additional elements, including toilet facilities and more extensive bicycle storage, enhancing convenience and comfort.
Material and Sustainability
The structure primarily uses wood for its posts and other structural elements, with spruce selected due to its availability. Acrylic glass serves as the glazing material, allowing for clarity and visual flow within the design. The combination of these materials supports stability and enhances transparency. Sustainability features include photovoltaic panels for energy and water filtration systems that promote efficient use of resources.
The pavilion includes an open staircase that leads to the terrace, facilitating easy access between indoor and outdoor areas. This transition not only provides elevated views of the landscape but also encourages interaction with nature, enriching the overall experience for its users.
