05

The Monte d'Oiro Wine Tasting Room is located in the beautiful vineyards of Quinta do Monte d'Oiro, where it serves as a space for wine tasting and gatherings. The design seeks to enhance connections among people through shared experiences related to wine culture. It is crafted to act as a frame for the stunning landscape, allowing nature to play a key role in the atmosphere while ensuring visitors can enjoy each other’s company.

Spatial Organization

The layout of the wine tasting room is carefully planned to foster interactions. A large communal table sits at the center, inviting guests to engage and converse. Nearby, a conference room and kitchen blend naturally into the space, supporting various activities without disrupting the overall harmony. The arrangement encourages a smooth flow, connecting different areas while enhancing the camaraderie among visitors.

Materiality and Light

A glass skeleton makes up the building’s outer layer, clearly defining the inside from the outside. This choice creates visual openness, offering clear views of the vineyard beyond. Natural light floods into the interior, softly illuminating the space and enriching the experience of wine tasting. The way light dances through the glass adds a welcoming warmth, changing the feel of the room as the day progresses.

Architectural Elements

The structure features a unique perforated design that frames views of the surrounding landscape and diffuses sunlight throughout the space. The ceiling showcases wooden cross vaults that connect down to columns, which not only provide support but also serve to hold wine bottles. This combination of functionality and aesthetic appeal creates an inviting environment that aligns with the themes of wine and community throughout the building.

Visitors are immersed in a carefully designed setting where architecture and nature interact meaningfully. The choices made in light, material, and layout come together to emphasize the joy of gathering and enjoying wine, while respecting the beauty of the surrounding environment. The experience is one of connection, both among people and with the natural world, ensuring that each visit is memorable.
