04

05
Natural light floods the interior through large windows, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The QUINTA DO MONTE D'OIRO wine tasting room is located in the Lisbon Wine Region, where it blends into a landscape marked by history and natural beauty. Designed as a space for visitors to explore and enjoy the wines produced on the estate, the structure emphasizes openness and connection to its surroundings. The tasting room's position on a hill provides panoramic views of the vineyards, enhancing the overall experience.

SITING AND CONTEXT

The design carefully considers its location in relation to the existing winery and farm. By reducing interference with the site, it maintains the character of the area and aligns with the natural landscape. This thoughtful placement allows for easy movement between important areas, such as the Chapel and Barrel Room. Guests can engage with the site comprehensively, creating a more enjoyable visit.

FUNCTIONALITY AND LAYOUT

Designed to accommodate around 30 visitors, the tasting room includes essential elements like storage cabinets and a faucet. These features are incorporated to ensure functionality without compromising the inviting nature of the space. The layout encourages social interaction, allowing friends and family to gather comfortably and enjoy the wines together.

MATERIALS AND INTERACTION

While the focus is on usability and engagement, the design hints at the value of traditional materials, particularly through the use of French Oak barrels housed in the Barrel Room. This choice helps to connect the tasting room with the history of winemaking, providing a tangible link to the craftsmanship involved in producing the wine.

Opening the tasting room to outdoor areas creates a direct relationship with the vineyard. Large windows highlight the surrounding views and allow natural light to fill the space. This invites visitors to step outside, fostering an appreciation of the landscape while they enjoy their wine experiences.

Function and design work together in a way that emphasizes both comfort and enjoyment. The features of the tasting room support an experience that connects people with the land and the wine produced there. Each aspect has been carefully considered to enhance the sense of place, making the wine tasting room a significant part of the estate.
