5 key facts about this project
The columbarium design is an integration of structure and landscape, situated in a tranquil setting that promotes reflection and remembrance. Inspired by the image of a flower field within a forest, the design emphasizes harmony with nature while catering to the functional needs of visitors. The space serves as a dedicated site for memorialization, providing a variety of compartments for both public and family use, enhanced by supportive facilities.
Site Layout
The layout is organized into distinct areas, with each section designated for specific purposes. Public compartments are arranged thoughtfully, featuring dimensions suitable for various needs. Public units measure 2.25m x 18.15m and 4.80m x 33.35m, while a family compartment offers a size of 6.05m x 8.40m. The funeral room, which allows for personal farewells, has dimensions of 8.30m x 6.05m, ensuring it meets the intended functions of the space.
Functionality and Accessibility
A total of 525 compartments are incorporated into the design, addressing a wide range of memorialization needs. The internal slope of 2% facilitates the use of a sliding coffin mechanism, making it user-friendly. Clear pathways for both pedestrians and vehicles enhance accessibility, allowing visitors to navigate the site comfortably while maintaining a respectful atmosphere.
Material Palette
The design makes use of durable materials to minimize maintenance and withstand various weather conditions. Reinforced concrete, glass fiber reinforced concrete, limestone, and brick blocks form the structural components of the columbarium. Marble is also used for bases, adding stability and contributing to the overall aesthetic of the structure.
Design Elements
The roof is designed to resemble a flower, a feature that visually connects the building to its natural surroundings. This choice creates a focal point that can be appreciated from above. The design includes wooden benches and a central fountain, which invite visitors to pause and reflect. These elements work together to enrich the experience of remembrance, fostering a connection between the built environment and the landscape.
