Floating Home With Thermal Glass Envelope and Efficient Rainwater Filtration

Project in-detail

Elevated above the ground, this dwelling utilizes a glass thermal envelope and integrated rainwater filtration to create a compact, sustainable home for two occupants.
5 key facts about this project
01
Compact design integrates five distinct living areas for multifunctional use.
02
Elevated "BOX in the BOX" structure minimizes ground contact and adapts to various settings.
03
Glass thermal envelope maximizes natural light while providing insulation and protection.
04
Rainwater filtration system converts rainwater into potable water for daily use.
05
Integrated greenery offers natural shading and enhances outdoor living experiences.

The "FIVE for TWO Home" is a residential design intended for two occupants. It features a compact layout and a focus on multifunctionality. The overall concept revolves around a central component called the MULTI-BOX. This element is surrounded by a glass thermal envelope that enhances natural light and views while protecting the interior.

Structural Design

The residence uses a design strategy referred to as "BOX in the BOX." This approach elevates the living space above ground. It allows the building to adapt to various environments, whether residential neighborhoods or rural areas. By raising the home, the design can respond effectively to different site conditions, fostering a sense of connection to the landscape.

Sustainability Features

Sustainability is a significant aspect of the home. An array of renewable energy systems is integrated to promote energy independence. Solar panels store energy in a battery pack, ensuring the occupants have access to power. Vacuum solar collectors are utilized to heat water, which supports both daily activities and climate control. The inclusion of a rainwater collection and filtration system further underscores the home's commitment to environmental responsibility by converting rainwater into drinkable water.

Interior Layout

Inside, the MULTI-BOX accommodates essential living functions. It contains spaces for the kitchen, bathroom, storage, and adaptable furniture that can change with the occupants' needs. With five distinct areas for living, the layout allows for various activities without feeling cramped. This thoughtful design supports both individual experiences and shared moments, resulting in a comfortable living environment.

Integration of Outdoor Space

Outdoor elements are carefully integrated into the overall design. Terraces extend the living space beyond the walls and provide areas for relaxation and enjoyment of the surroundings. These outdoor spaces not only enhance the visual appeal of the home but also enable residents to engage with nature. By incorporating natural shading and landscaped features, the design promotes outdoor living alongside indoor comfort.
