05
The design reflects a balance of whimsical elements with functional living areas.

The project explores the idea of a utopian virtual home, focusing on themes of fluidity and imagination. The design merges elements of childhood dreams with adaptable spaces that respond to user needs. Set in a conceptual realm, the home invites occupants to experience a new way of living, combining aspects of the physical and digital worlds.

Conceptual Framework

The design takes inspiration from soap bubbles, which symbolize the delicate and fleeting nature of dreams. These bubbles serve as walls in the structure, while a water surface acts as the floor, creating an environment that encourages reflection on the connection between shelter and fluidity. The concept is envisioned as a floating island, illustrating the changing and temporary aspects of virtual existence.

Spatial Organization

The layout is organized to promote interaction and connection among users. Common areas, such as the meeting room, work room, and patio, are designed to allow for open circulation. This layout encourages socialization and communal experiences. At the same time, the design incorporates privacy by restricting access to the bedroom and game room through coded portals. This balance between open spaces and private areas is essential for modern living.

Functional Areas

Each zone in the home has a clear purpose: there is a game room, patio, bedroom, work room, and meeting room. These areas are arranged to support specific activities while maintaining a sense of flow throughout the space. Such organization aims to go beyond traditional living environments, providing a variety of experiences within a unified design.

Visual Aesthetics

Although specific materials are not mentioned, the design suggests a lightweight and ethereal quality inspired by the soap bubble theme. This choice reflects current discussions about the relationship between virtual concepts and physical form. The design evokes nostalgia, creating a fairytale-like atmosphere that encourages occupants to engage with their imagination and surroundings. The project clearly embodies a unique vision of home that blends community with personal space in an inviting way.

`
Competition organisers

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025 is an international architecture competition dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the value of unrealized architectural designs. It invites architects, designers, and students worldwide to submit visionary projects that have not yet been constructed, highlighting the power of ideas and the creativity behind the design process. By focusing on unbuilt work, the competition aims to bring forward concepts that shape the future of architecture and push the boundaries of the profession.

Participants can compete in three categories based on project scale: Small Wonders (up to 100 m²), Medium Marvels (101–999 m²), and Large Visions (over 1,000 m²). Each category winner will receive €20,000, and additional prizes include honorable mentions, student awards, and a special Best Presentation Award. Winning projects will gain significant international exposure through Buildner’s publicity campaign and a feature article on ArchDaily, providing a unique opportunity to showcase creative ideas to a global audience.

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025 encourages entrants to submit any type of unbuilt project, from conceptual visions to detailed designs, celebrating bold innovation without the constraints of realization. Important deadlines: registration closes on October 30, 2025; submissions are due by November 20, 2025; winners will be announced on December 17, 2025.
