Floating Deck Pavilion Embracing Fuchsia and Local Stones

Project in-detail

Constructed with wire mesh and local stones, the pavilion incorporates a floating deck and fuchsia-inspired forms to create a serene space for meditation within a natural meadow.
5 key facts about this project
01
The pavilion utilizes a mandala-shaped floor plan to promote harmony and balance in meditation.
02
A floating deck surrounds the structure, enhancing user engagement with the natural landscape.
03
The entrance features a unique gate of wire mesh filled with local stones for a tactile experience.
04
Slide-up windows provide ample ventilation and a direct connection to the outdoors.
05
Fuchsia-inspired design elements add a distinct visual character, setting it apart from typical meditation spaces.

The meditation pavilion is located in a tranquil meadow, designed to create a peaceful environment for reflection and meditation. By integrating natural elements with a structured space, the pavilion aims to enhance the connection between visitors and the landscape. The design focuses on blending the built form with its surroundings, ensuring a functional area that encourages contemplation.

Architectural Concept

The design follows a mandala shape that reflects harmony and unity. This layout is carefully adapted to the land, allowing the structure to interact with the natural topography. The pavilion features dimensional extensions inspired by the color and form of fuchsia, adding visual interest and bringing a touch of vibrancy to the overall design.

Pathways and Entry

Visitors approach through a sculpture gate made of wire mesh and filled with local stones. This entry point marks the transition from the outside world to the meditation space. The path leading to the pavilion is designed to engage users with the environment, providing a thoughtful experience as they move closer to the heart of the pavilion.

Interior and Functionality

A fireplace serves as the focal point within the pavilion, creating a place for both gathering and individual meditation. The structure includes slide-up windows, which can be opened wide to invite fresh air and to connect the interior with the outdoor setting. The design allows the nearby forest to function as natural walls, providing shelter while maintaining an open feeling.

Sustainability and Materiality

The pavilion places great importance on sustainability through both its design features and material choices. It uses a passive ventilation system, which includes strategically placed windows and gaps in the roof to promote airflow. The raised floor protects the natural habitat beneath while allowing rainwater to drain efficiently. Materials such as wire mesh and local stones are incorporated in the entrance, along with wood used throughout the structure, underscoring a link to the surrounding environment.

The floating deck surrounding the pavilion provides space for various forms of meditation. This design choice promotes moments of stillness, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in nature. The careful arrangement of the pavilion and its surroundings highlights the intention to create a mindful experience within the meadow landscape.
