The Meta Dimension project introduces a unique approach that combines virtual spaces with human expression. It encourages creativity and collaboration while inviting users to engage with their surroundings in new ways. The design highlights the significance of abstract thinking and flexibility, aiming to create an environment that encourages exploration and innovation.

Avatar Concept

The Avatar concept allows people to interact with their environment freely. This idea promotes personal expression and positions the space as a dynamic tool for both individual and group engagement. The design shifts the way users relate to their surroundings, moving beyond traditional layouts defined by furniture and fixed structures.

Digital Realm Engagement

The digital realm is crucial to Meta Dimension. It is imagined as a space where users can fully immerse themselves in creative experiences. This environment supports deeper thinking and encourages innovative ideas to develop. By linking the virtual with the physical, the project shows how digital elements can enhance the creative process.

Open Canvas for Collaboration

Instead of trying to create a physical home within a digital setting, the project suggests a framework that acts as an open canvas. This approach promotes collaborative work, allowing users to conceptualize ideas and experiment without being limited by traditional building designs. Meta Dimension nurtures a creative culture that adapts to the changing needs of its users.

Fluid Interactions

The design recognizes that abstract environments enhance how people think. Without rigid structures, users can interact with the space in more fluid ways. This adaptability is key, creating an atmosphere that changes over time. It reinforces the core values of creativity and collaboration.

The spatial design encourages a sense of freedom, allowing ideas to come together and grow naturally, free from the usual constraints of traditional architecture.

Competition organisers

The MICROHOME 10 competition invites participants to submit visionary designs for off-grid, modular microhomes that push the limits of sustainable, small-scale living. Organised by Buildner in partnership with Kingspan and Hapi Homes, this tenth edition sets the challenge of designing a dwelling for two people within a maximum floor area of 25 m², encouraging bold solutions adaptable to any urban or rural location. The competition continues Buildner’s mission to foster innovative approaches to compact, energy-efficient housing that can address pressing global challenges.

This year’s edition offers a generous total prize fund of €100,000, including the Kingspan Award for designs that integrate high-performance Kingspan products and the Hapi Homes Award for a project selected for real-world construction. In addition to cash prizes, the winners gain international exposure through Buildner’s media partnerships, publications, and a dedicated MICROHOME magazine, further amplifying their ideas to the wider architectural community.

Key dates for MICROHOME 10 include the closing date for registration on 25 September 2025, the submission deadline on 29 October 2025 (11:59 p.m. London time), and the announcement of winners on 9 December 2025.
