The Cambodia Remote Hideout Huts project presents a new interpretation of stilt house design, catering to the cultural and environmental characteristics of Cambodia. Located in an inviting landscape, the huts aim to offer visitors a comfortable place to connect with nature. The design focuses on creating spacious areas that allow natural light to flow, enhancing the overall experience of occupants.

Spatial Organization

The layout of the huts is designed to be both flexible and practical. Rooms can be separated with wooden walls, allowing for privacy when needed. This arrangement suits couples and small families well. In contrast, larger groups can enjoy an open floor plan that encourages interaction. The ground floor remains open to serve as a communal space where guests can engage in activities and relax, fostering a sense of community.

Natural Light and Views

The upper levels of the huts prioritize comfort and convenience. Large windows and glass sections bring in natural light and provide stunning views of the surrounding environment. The bathrooms are thoughtfully organized into wet and dry areas, promoting usability without sacrificing simplicity. These carefully considered features contribute to a peaceful atmosphere for all who stay here.

Materiality and Aesthetics

Ordinary wood is chosen for the construction of the stilt structures, providing a rustic look while ensuring durability. Glossy paint enhances the wood's visual appeal and makes maintenance easier. This straightforward choice of materials aligns with the design philosophy, which focuses on simplicity to complement the natural beauty of the site.

Structural Details

Another important aspect of the design is the extended roofs over the balconies, which protect against rain and sun while keeping the space open. Large pillars support the structure, blending in with the surrounding greenery. This attention to structural details enhances the overall harmony of the design.

The stilt structures elevate the living experience, allowing guests to fully appreciate their natural surroundings while enjoying a comfortable retreat.
