## Project Overview
Located in Kharkiv, Ukraine, the Freedom Square Revival project is focused on revitalizing one of the city's key public spaces. The initiative aims to enhance urban functionality and community engagement by addressing spatial and social disconnects within the area. The design promotes accessibility and encourages daily activities, ultimately improving the environmental conditions of the square.

### Concept and Design Narrative
The design philosophy is centered on the idea of "Transcendence of Ground Level," which emphasizes the creation of inclusive environments that facilitate interaction among users. A raised square distinguishes pedestrian areas from vehicular traffic, prioritizing safety and accessibility. Key objectives include reshaping the relationship between the urban space and the regional administration building to foster civic participation, along with a strong commitment to environmental sustainability through the integration of green landscapes and eco-friendly materials.

## Materiality and Design Outcomes
The material selection combines modern elements with traditional features to ensure functionality and aesthetic appeal. Notable materials include photovoltaic panels for energy efficiency, operable sliding skylights for natural light and ventilation, and permeable paving to enhance urban hydrology. Existing wood trusses from the previous structure have been preserved to maintain historical context.

The design culminates in a layered urban experience characterized by green spaces that promote relaxation and community gatherings. The integration of underground parking preserves the landscape while providing necessary functionality. A central pavilion, complete with sculptural columns and a canopy, serves as a focal point, complemented by thoughtful urban furniture. Circulation pathways enhance pedestrian access, while an underground connection to the administration building fosters seamless transitions between civic spaces. Additional features include elevated terraces offering scenic views, a skating rink for recreation, and a sunken garden that introduces ecological elements into the urban fabric.
