Elevated Meditation Space Enhanced by Angular Pine Wood Structures

Project in-detail

Angular forms of locally sourced pine wood create an elevated meditation space that seamlessly integrates with the Ozoliņi forest, offering a tranquil environment for reflection and introspection.
5 key facts about this project
01
Elevated design allows for enhanced views of the surrounding forest.
02
Local pine wood framing integrates the structure with its environment.
03
Angular forms create unique shadow patterns that evolve throughout the day.
04
Access bridge features netting to prevent insect disturbances.
05
Meditation space is strategically stacked above living areas for isolation.

The design is located in the serene surroundings of the Ozoliņi forest, focusing on meditation as its main function. It connects users with nature by incorporating elements that enhance the experience of quiet reflection. The design concept uses a periscope-like mechanism to offer various visual perspectives of the forest landscape. This encourages a deeper sense of connection between users and their natural surroundings.

Conceptual Framework

Two distinct spaces define the layout: an elevated area for meditation and a living space below. This arrangement allows for clear separation of functions, enhancing the meditational experience. By placing the meditation area above, users can engage with the scenery without distractions from everyday life.

Spatial Dynamics

The structure features angular forms that contrast with the flowing lines of the forest. This deliberate choice creates a connection between the building and the environment. The design includes multiple vantage points, allowing users to enjoy the landscape from different angles. This diversity enriches the experience and fosters a sense of presence in nature.

Access and Safety Features

Access to the elevated meditation space is provided by a connecting bridge. This bridge not only facilitates movement through the uneven terrain but also incorporates safety measures. Netting at openings helps keep insects at bay, ensuring a peaceful environment for focus and contemplation.

Material Considerations

The project makes use of locally sourced pine wood for structural elements. This choice promotes sustainability and reflects a commitment to the environment. The design also includes metal brackets for structural support, ensuring stability and durability. The materials work together to create a harmonious relationship with the surrounding forest.

The meditation area features large openings that invite natural light in, allowing users to feel the forest's ambiance. The shifting shadows created by the angular structure enhance this experience throughout the day.
