Elevated Cabin With Natural Wood and Tranquil Views Overlooking Zvannieku Lake

03

04
Incorporates large glass facades for expansive views of nature.
05
Promotes a meditation-focused experience through its layout and space arrangement.

The Ozolini Teamaker Farm is located near Zvannieku Ezers Lake and aims to create a strong bond with the surrounding nature. It promotes a sense of peace and encourages reflection through its design. The cabin is intended as a retreat for visitors, inviting them to engage with the natural environment in a meaningful way.

Design Concept

The architecture focuses on fostering a connection between the cabin and its environment. As visitors make their way from the lakeshore to the cabin, the design enhances their interaction with the landscape. The journey is crafted to reveal the beauty of the forest gradually, which heightens their appreciation for the setting.

Spatial Organization

Inside the cabin, the layout turns a simple living space into a viewing platform. Large glass panels allow for broad views of the lake and forest, creating a visual connection to the outside world. The cabin’s elevated design means it can extend over the hillside. This not only minimizes disruption to the site but also creates a clear difference between indoor and outdoor areas.

Materiality

Locally sourced materials such as Pine, Fir, Oak, and Ash are used throughout the structure. These choices help to limit the environmental impact from transportation and support local economies. Incorporating these materials allows the design to blend with its surrounding context, emphasizing sustainability in its construction.

An important feature of the design is a wide glass window that eliminates divisions between the interior and the natural landscape. It captures the changing light and vistas, enhancing the experience of tranquility. This detail invites occupants to engage with their environment fully, turning a simple cabin into a space for contemplation and connection with nature.
