05
The project incorporates advanced technology for immersive digital experiences within communal spaces.

The project presents a thoughtful approach to elder care, set in the culturally vibrant and lush landscape of Chiang Mai, Thailand. It aims to create a welcoming community for elderly residents that encourages connection and well-being. The design concept focuses on addressing the aspirations of people in their later years, exploring themes of imagination and a deep relationship with nature. By incorporating elements such as digital projections and cloud-like shapes, the design fosters a sense of comfort and creativity.

Conceptual Framework

Insights from Q&A sheets reveal that future residents desire experiences like mini concerts and visits to dreamlike places. This feedback directly informs the design, incorporating whimsical elements such as Clouds and Angels, which transform the architectural narrative into one reflecting these dreams. The use of cloud shapes not only enhances visual appeal but also bridges the gap between everyday life and fantastical experiences.

Spatial Organization

The layout prioritizes accessibility and community engagement, featuring areas specifically for social interactions and support activities. A central gathering space serves as a hub, where residents can come together. Adjacent, a community chapel with a digital dome fosters both reflection and communal events. Additional spaces, like a community library that marries traditional reading with digital tools, and a daycare setting, promote connections across generations, further enriching the community.

Outdoor Integration

Emphasizing the local geography, the design encourages outdoor spaces that link residents with their surroundings. Features such as riverside tea areas and comfortable seating arrangements offer places for relaxation and socializing in nature. This integration of outdoor space invites residents to engage with their environment, creating peaceful areas that support social bonds and personal reflection.

Final Design Detail

A notable feature is the rehabilitation pool, which highlights a commitment to health and wellness within the community. This space provides therapeutic opportunities for residents, reinforcing the overall objective of creating a nurturing and supportive living environment for elderly individuals. The thoughtful design allows for a rich tapestry of experiences that cater to both social needs and personal growth.
