The architectural design project in Berlin explores the connection between technology and urban life, reflecting the city's diverse cultural landscape. Designed as a modern Techno booth, it addresses the changing dynamics of social interaction, especially in light of recent challenges posed by the pandemic. This space combines technology with artistic expression, aiming to enhance user experiences in the city’s lively cultural environment.

Design Concept

Central to the design is an understanding of Berlin's historical and cultural conflicts, along with its varied population. This combination creates a unique urban character that is both rich in history and oriented toward the future. The Techno booth acts as an interactive platform, inviting engagement with the city’s cultural narrative while adapting to the evolving needs of its users in a post-pandemic world.

Materials

For this project, a dynamic LED façade and a Dichroic film color tube serve as key materials. The LED façade provides a flexible exterior that responds to changes in light and perspective, offering a changing visual experience. The Dichroic film color tube adds subtle color variations, enhancing how people perceive the space and allowing them to see the booth as both a functional structure and an artistic installation.

User Interaction

Inside the booth, users can engage in a single-player viewing mode, which allows for personal interaction with sound. This feature lets individuals select specific audio environments, mimicking the lively atmosphere of a nightclub. Additionally, an intelligent photosensitive disinfection system has been integrated into the design, attending to health concerns related to public spaces and ensuring user safety.

Lighting and Atmosphere

The interior reflects the contrasts of Berlin’s day and night. During the day, the space has a translucent, multi-colored ambiance that embodies the artistic spirit of the city. When night falls, the booth transforms through intense internal lighting that captures the rebellious essence of Berlin, reinforcing its role as a cultural landmark. The thoughtful arrangement of these design elements results in a space that is both functional and deeply connected to its vibrant surroundings.
