The project "Beneath the Eave" is an architectural endeavor located in the Balik Sea area. It serves as a short-term retreat designed for small groups, emphasizing a strong interaction with the surrounding natural landscape. The design integrates practical functionalities with contemplative spaces, allowing users to place themselves within the environment while offering a connection to local cultural practices.

The architectural design emphasizes a seamless blend with the environment, utilizing materials and forms that echo the existing topography. This approach creates an experience that prioritizes individuality and social interaction. Visitors are encouraged to engage in activities such as meditation, small discussions, and exploration of the natural settings, contributing to the project’s holistic purpose.

Unique Design Approaches

One of the distinctive aspects of this project is its use of extended eaves in the roof design. This feature not only provides shelter from weather conditions but also facilitates the penetration of natural light into the interiors, enhancing the overall ambiance. The roof structure is designed to visually and physically connect the indoors and outdoors, promoting a sense of openness.

The spatial arrangement of the design allows for flexibility in usage. Open layouts coupled with movable partitions enable various configurations for gatherings, ensuring that the architecture responds to the needs of its occupants. Each space within the structure is strategically positioned to offer unique views, reinforcing the connection with the exterior landscape.

Sustainability is a fundamental principle that underpins the architectural choices made in the project. The materials selected, such as local wood and organic fabrics, not only promote ecological responsibility but also enrich the sensory experience of the space. The landscaping integrates indigenous plants, requiring minimal maintenance and further enhancing the project’s environmental resilience.

Emphasis on Cultural Resonance

The project incorporates elements of local architectural heritage through the choice of materials and construction techniques. This thoughtful integration ensures that the building respects its cultural context while providing modern functionalities. The overall aesthetic is both contemporary and reflective of traditional values, offering users a sense of continuity with the past.

Visitors engaging with the project will find that it cultivates an atmosphere conducive to reflection and connection with nature. Architectural plans detail the layout and functionalities, while architectural sections reveal the intricacies of the design, demonstrating how each element contributes to the retreat's purpose.
