The Sanctuary Circulus Cabin integrates with its mountainous surroundings, creating a space that prioritizes tranquility and connection to nature. Located in a serene setting, the cabin serves residential needs while promoting a lifestyle that embraces the outdoors. The design aims to harmonize with the environment, using soft, curved forms to reflect the natural landscape.

Design Concept

The cabin is divided into two main areas. One part is designated for private living, designed for two occupants. This space features an open floor plan that maximizes scenic views, with a bath and bed positioned to provide the best sightlines to the landscape. This arrangement encourages a peaceful living experience, fostering a strong relationship between the occupants and their natural surroundings.

Protective Elements

The second section of the cabin acts as a protective cover. This design choice enhances privacy and offers shelter from weather elements. It allows for comfortable outdoor spaces that cater to relaxation while shielding the interior from direct sunlight and strong winds. The cover gives a sense of security and creates a sheltered retreat within the tranquil landscape.

Materiality and Sustainability

The exterior of the cabin is clad in stone, chosen for its suitability to blend with the natural surroundings and its durability. Larch wood is also incorporated, reflecting a preference for sustainable materials. The building features a solar energy system, with solar panels placed on the roof to provide efficient power. This setup emphasizes the cabin's aim for self-sufficiency in a way that is practical and environmentally conscious.

Interior Space

Inside, the cabin promotes a simple and earthy atmosphere. The open layout allows for flexibility and movement, with minimal furniture to create a sense of spaciousness. Natural light floods the interior, enhancing the feeling of being connected to the outdoors. The design encourages a relaxed lifestyle, where occupants can appreciate their surroundings while enjoying the comfort of their home.

A glass door enhances the connection between the indoors and outdoors. It allows for easy access to the patio and views of the landscape, reinforcing the cabin’s purpose of creating a harmonious living experience in tune with nature.
