5 key facts about this project
The Monte D'Oiro Wine Tasting Room is located in the scenic landscape of Quinta Do Monte D'Oiro, combining architecture with the beauty of nature. It serves as both a place for wine tasting and a reflection of local cultures and traditions linked to winemaking. Inspired by the shape of a wine glass, the design creates a connection to the experience of tasting wine while maintaining a strong relationship with the surrounding vineyards.
Design Concept
The architecture integrates smoothly with its natural environment. When visitors arrive, they encounter familiar forms that resonate with the local agricultural context. Minimalistic walls and arches frame the views of the vineyard, enhancing a sense of openness and continuity. This design invites guests to appreciate both the space and the landscape that surrounds it.
Tasting Table and Functionality
At the center of the room is a large wine tasting table that can accommodate up to thirty people. This table promotes the communal aspect of enjoying wine together. Made of solid wood, it appears as a single piece, yet it can be divided into seven smaller tables. This flexibility allows for various seating arrangements and makes it easier to follow current social distancing guidelines.
Architectural Features
The roof of the structure is designed to draw attention, gently curving upward to mimic the shape of a wine glass. This feature not only enhances the building's appearance but also allows ample natural light to enter, enriching the tasting experience. An opening at the corner of the building connects the interior to an outdoor terrace. This transition allows fresh air to flow inside and provides additional seating options for guests.
Material Considerations
Materials play a significant role in the overall design. The solid wood used for the table brings a touch of warmth to the space, while the intricate metal legs provide support. This combination of materials is both functional and visually appealing. Alcoves along the walls house wine bottles, leading into a cellar-like area that showcases them, inviting guests to explore the story behind the wines.
Large windows throughout the building frame views of the vineyard, bringing the outside in. This design element allows natural light to illuminate the space and keeps a constant connection between the interior and the landscape, enhancing the overall experience for visitors.
