The Monte d'Oiro Wine Tasting Room is located in the scenic Lisbon Wine Region, a place known for its lush vineyards and tradition of wine-making. The building is designed to connect with the natural landscape, echoing the gentle hills that surround it. The idea behind the design is to create an inviting space where visitors can enjoy wine while being part of the beautiful environment. The overall concept focuses on blending the structure with its setting to enhance the guest experience.

Design and Form

The structure features a curved shape that aligns with the hills of the site. It is positioned lower than the surrounding ground, which keeps it tucked into the landscape. This design choice helps to minimize visual disruption and encourages visitors to engage with the scenery. As people approach the tasting room, they experience a gradual descent that draws them into the space, inviting them to explore what lies ahead.

Interior Layout and Functionality

Inside the tasting room, the layout is designed for community interaction, centered around a large communal table. This central feature reflects the local tradition of gathering for shared meals and wine tasting. The atmosphere is calm and welcoming, with smooth concrete surfaces and large stone tiles providing a neutral backdrop. These elements help create a comfortable environment for visitors to enjoy their experience.

Outdoor Integration and Environmental Considerations

An outdoor terrace extends from the interior space, allowing for easy movement between inside and outside. This terrace can be opened during warm months, bringing in fresh air and offering stunning views of the vineyards. The roof design provides shade, ensuring that the space remains comfortable even during hot days. The interplay of light and shadow adds a dynamic quality to the area, enhancing the overall experience for guests.

Material Characteristics

Careful material choices define the character of the tasting room. Marble, tinted oak wood, concrete, and large stone tiles reflect a focus on quality and durability. These materials provide a tactile experience that complements the visual aspects of the design. They not only serve practical purposes but also contribute to an inviting and refined atmosphere, encouraging visitors to linger and enjoy their surroundings.

Natural light filters through the space, creating a warm environment that changes throughout the day. The dynamic patterns cast by the roof enhance the sensory experience, making the tasting room a memorable place for enjoying wine among the vineyards.
