The design along the river Donau serves as a Velo stop aimed at enhancing the experience of bicycle tourists. Set against a natural backdrop, the structure connects with the flow of the river while providing essential services. The design emphasizes user engagement and sustainability while addressing the specific needs of those who travel by bike.

Site Integration

The project focuses on the relationship between the built structures and the surrounding landscape. The wavy form reflects the river’s movement, creating a visual link between water and architecture. This connection invites visitors to interact with the landscape while utilizing the facilities.

Structural Considerations

Standardized components make up the design, allowing for easier assembly and a consistent look. The curved shapes are inspired by bicycle frames and elements from local production, which connect the project to the community. This method not only simplifies construction but also promotes local industry and resourcefulness.

Functional Amenities

The design includes features essential for cyclists and tourists. Facilities such as a battery charging station and a V-log display booth are included to provide modern conveniences. Private rooms face the river, offering quiet spaces for visitors to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Design Response to Context

The project responds thoughtfully to the challenges of fitting into the natural landscape. The shapes mimic mountains, allowing for clear views and a smooth integration with the riverbank. The curves and variations in the design respond to the site’s topography. This careful approach not only respects the environment but also enhances the experience for those who visit.

Signage is another important aspect, reflecting both local culture and the EuroVelo 6 cycling network. It uses colors that represent the European Union alongside public bicycles, creating a clear visual language to guide visitors through the area. Each element is designed to enhance both functionality and enjoyment within the space.
