Eternal Branches of Love is designed as a tranquil space for those experiencing grief. Located in a park-like setting, it aims to create a comforting environment focused on memory and connection. The design introduces the concept of a "stone forest," which symbolizes the bond between the living and those who have passed away. This space encourages visitors to reflect on their emotions while engaging with the natural world.

Stone Forest Structure

The project features a series of stone slabs arranged in a chain-like pattern. This layout represents the connections among individuals and their community. The slabs are thoughtfully integrated into the landscape, along with real trees and patches of grass, allowing visitors to experience a blend of architecture and nature. The stone forest serves not only as a structural component but also as a visual and emotional focal point for those processing their grief.

Columbaria and Personal Tributes

Columbaria are placed strategically along the trunks of stylized trees within the stone forest. These structures are made of hammered stone and include spaces for names, dates, candle holders, and photographs. This design allows for a personal tribute to loved ones, making the site more intimate. Visitors can engage with these elements, creating a direct and meaningful connection to the memories of those they have lost.

Water Flow and Natural Elements

An essential feature of the design is its approach to managing rainwater. The flow of water is directed along the branches and trunks of stylized trees, enhancing the sensory experience of the space. This aspect symbolizes the continuity of life in a natural way. Potential moss growth on the tree trunks provides a visual reminder of resilience in the face of loss and adds character to the environment.

Crystallized Trees

A unique aspect of the design is the inclusion of crystallized trees. These structures have steel trunks and branches covered in a glass-like surface. They add to the overall atmosphere, giving a sense of an enchanted forest. The arrangement of these trees creates various meditative areas throughout the landscape. Clearings and thickenings invite visitors to reflect and find solace, enriching their experience within the space.

`
Competition organisers

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025 is an international architecture competition dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the value of unrealized architectural designs. It invites architects, designers, and students worldwide to submit visionary projects that have not yet been constructed, highlighting the power of ideas and the creativity behind the design process. By focusing on unbuilt work, the competition aims to bring forward concepts that shape the future of architecture and push the boundaries of the profession.

Participants can compete in three categories based on project scale: Small Wonders (up to 100 m²), Medium Marvels (101–999 m²), and Large Visions (over 1,000 m²). Each category winner will receive €20,000, and additional prizes include honorable mentions, student awards, and a special Best Presentation Award. Winning projects will gain significant international exposure through Buildner’s publicity campaign and a feature article on ArchDaily, providing a unique opportunity to showcase creative ideas to a global audience.

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025 encourages entrants to submit any type of unbuilt project, from conceptual visions to detailed designs, celebrating bold innovation without the constraints of realization. Important deadlines: registration closes on October 30, 2025; submissions are due by November 20, 2025; winners will be announced on December 17, 2025.
