5 key facts about this project
The design presents a compact living unit within the dense urban environment of Paris, where housing demand is high. It focuses on maximizing limited space by integrating various functions. The concept emphasizes adaptability, allowing residents to use the space according to their needs while providing a comfortable living experience.
LIVING AREA
The main area, known as "LIVE," serves as a central hub for daily activities. It features a high ceiling and a large bay window that connects the interior with the outside. This area includes a multifunctional wooden unit that accommodates different uses. Residents can work at a desk, gather around a dining table, or sleep on a foldable bed. The ability to close the wall unit helps free up floor space, adding to the area's versatility.
FUNCTIONAL AREA
Next to the living space is the "SUPPLY THE NEEDS" section, which contains practical elements like the cooking area and bathroom. This compact space is housed within a wooden block, ensuring that everything is organized and accessible. The clever use of wall alcoves provides additional storage solutions. A sliding door creates a private sanctuary for the bathroom, maintaining a comfortable flow between the different areas.
RESTING AREA
The "HAVE A REST" area is set above the functional block, creating a more private setting. The lower ceiling design enhances the feeling of seclusion and offers a peaceful environment for reading or relaxing. This space also incorporates storage, maximizing every inch available while maintaining an inviting atmosphere.
DESIGN INNOVATION
A unique aspect of the project is the wall system that allows for various furniture configurations. Folding chairs and table legs are neatly stored in designated compartments, making it easy to rearrange the space. This practical approach reflects an understanding of urban living challenges, addressing the need for flexibility in small areas.
The structure employs a steel frame for strength and durability, along with cross-laminated timber panels for constructing walls and units. This choice of materials combines stability with a warm, home-like quality, enhancing the overall residential experience.
