Kharkiv Rising is a residential architectural project located in Kharkiv, Ukraine, designed to revitalize urban living through innovative community-oriented design. This project emphasizes sustainability, adaptability, and social interaction, aiming to create an integrated living environment that fosters a sense of community among its residents.

The project comprises modular structures that allow for flexibility in living arrangements and public space usage. The design includes a combination of communal areas, private gardens, and landscaped terraces, which provide residents with outdoor spaces while enhancing the urban landscape. The intention behind this architectural approach is to facilitate both individual comfort and collective engagement, addressing modern urban living needs.

Sustainability and Material Use
The project utilizes a sustainable approach to material selection, incorporating local resources to minimize environmental impact. Key materials include concrete panels for structural stability, cross-laminated timber (CLT) for lightweight yet strong construction, and innovative composed panels made from sunflower marrow, which reduce waste while providing effective building solutions. Glass is strategically employed in the facade design, promoting natural light and reducing reliance on artificial lighting. The use of sustainable insulation materials further enhances the energy efficiency of the buildings.

Social Spaces and Community Design
Kharkiv Rising significantly emphasizes social spaces, featuring plazas, gardens, and activity zones that encourage community interaction. These areas facilitate gatherings and recreational activities, aiming to strengthen the neighborhood atmosphere. The incorporation of accessible green areas within the design is intended to promote healthy living and provide residents with a connection to nature. The layout prioritizes pedestrian movement, ensuring that all parts of the project are easily navigable and reinforcing social ties among residents.

Modular Design Approach
A notable aspect of Kharkiv Rising is its modular design approach, which includes a “Kit of Parts” system. This allows for customization of living spaces and communal areas according to the evolving needs of the community. Flexibility in design enables the project to adapt over time, accommodating demographic changes and varying lifestyle preferences. This adaptability positions Kharkiv Rising as a forward-thinking solution for contemporary urban housing.
