Located in Balboa Park, the project focuses on supporting vulnerable community members. It provides critical access to resources and transportation, while also aiming to create a strong sense of community.

Modular Housing Units

The design features modular housing units that can adapt to various family sizes and personal needs. This flexibility allows residents to create a living space that reflects their own circumstances, helping them feel a sense of stability. The arrangement of these units promotes social interaction, encouraging residents to connect with one another and build relationships.

Centralized Community Hub

A central community hub is integral to the design, serving as a gathering place for activities and collaboration. This space fosters a welcoming atmosphere, allowing residents to engage in communal programs and share experiences. By incorporating workspaces within the hub, residents are offered opportunities to develop skills while gaining experience in a supportive environment.

Symbolic Architectural Elements

Elements such as arches are used to represent unity and connection between living and working spaces. These design choices not only fulfill practical functions but also contribute to a pleasing visual identity that resonates with the community’s values. The layout promotes coexistence, nurturing an environment where both personal growth and professional development can happen together.

Integrated Job Opportunities

Co-Habitat 01 also includes a local brewery, providing employment options and a place for social engagement. This feature presents opportunities for residents to share their stories through product branding, contributing to a wider awareness of efforts to combat homelessness. The management structure allows for individual assessments, ensuring that support is tailored to meet specific needs as residents work toward reintegration into society.

Thoughtful details throughout the design enhance functionality while fostering connections among residents. The spaces are crafted to encourage interaction, making the project a supportive environment for all who reside there.
