Colored Smoke Creates Immersive Experiences in a Semi-Transparent Booth

Project in-detail

A semi-transparent booth adapts its form to environmental conditions while enveloping its surroundings in colored smoke, facilitating immersive performances in urban spaces.
5 key facts about this project
01
A semi-transparent fabric wraps the booth, enhancing visibility and engagement.
02
The design allows for real-time shape adaptation based on wind conditions.
03
Colored smoke is used to create an immersive performance atmosphere.
04
Multiple booths can be combined to generate a collective fog effect across the city.
05
The installation encourages spontaneous public interaction and performances.

The Berlin Fog project is situated in the lively urban landscape of Berlin and serves to engage the public through performance. With a techno booth designed as a mast or scissor lift, the installation emphasizes movement and flexibility, allowing it to be placed in various locations throughout the city. This concept aims to enrich public interactions and foster dynamic experiences in different urban contexts.

Design Concept

The booth features a semi-transparent fabric wrap that enhances the visual aspect while exposing some of its structural elements. This choice of material invites curiosity among passersby. It creates a bridge between the performers and the audience, fostering a sense of connection. Additionally, the booth can change its shape in response to wind, allowing it to adapt to the environment around it, mirroring the lively nature of city life.

Immersive Experience

A key element of the project is the use of colored smoke, which contributes to an immersive atmosphere for both performers and spectators. This smoke, covered by the performers, creates an intimate space and attracts attention simultaneously. As multiple booths are set up across the city, they generate a sense of colored fog that transforms urban spaces and changes how they are perceived.

Engagement and Interaction

The design goes beyond simply hosting performances. By integrating sound and fog, the booths create an environment that encourages participation from those not directly involved. This aspect allows the installation to act as a social connector, inviting spontaneous interactions and enriching experiences in public areas.

A noteworthy detail is how the booth's skin responds to environmental factors, showing a careful consideration for the relationship between the structure and nature. This responsiveness highlights the commitment to creating an engaging space that complements the urban environment.
