The Spirala Community Center is an architectural project designed to serve as a multifaceted communal space within its geographical context. It seeks to establish a harmonious environment that fosters social interaction, education, wellness, and cultural engagement. The design emphasizes sustainability and incorporates aspects of local heritage, creating a center that resonates with both the community and its surroundings.

The center features a distinctive spiral form that guides movement toward a central communal hub, where various activities take place. This layout enhances connectivity within the space while promoting inclusivity and collaboration among users. The architectural design optimizes natural light and ventilation, creating a comfortable atmosphere conducive to diverse uses, from workshops to social gatherings.

Sustainability is a key focus of this project. The architectural idea incorporates a water management system that utilizes rainwater harvesting and purification techniques, underscoring the theme of environmental responsibility. This approach is reflected in the integration of natural materials, including locally sourced bricks and stone, which help the building blend into its landscape while minimizing the carbon footprint associated with construction.

Innovative design elements differentiate the Spirala Community Center from typical community projects. The use of a circular layout promotes a sense of unity and accessibility. Flexible spaces within the center are created through the use of operable walls, allowing for adaptability based on community needs and activities. This feature is crucial in a communal setting where the requirements may constantly evolve.

Another notable aspect of the design is its consideration for thermal performance. The structure employs thick walls for insulation, reducing energy consumption and maintaining a comfortable interior climate. Natural ventilation strategies further enhance comfort while reinforcing the building's sustainable credentials.

In summary, the Spirala Community Center combines functional design with a commitment to sustainability and community engagement. This project stands out as an architectural response to the needs of its users while respecting its environmental context. To explore the architectural plans, sections, and designs in more detail, viewers are encouraged to review the project presentation for an in-depth look at the unique concepts and practical applications that define the Spirala Community Center.

`
Competition organisers

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025 is an international architecture competition dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the value of unrealized architectural designs. It invites architects, designers, and students worldwide to submit visionary projects that have not yet been constructed, highlighting the power of ideas and the creativity behind the design process. By focusing on unbuilt work, the competition aims to bring forward concepts that shape the future of architecture and push the boundaries of the profession.

Participants can compete in three categories based on project scale: Small Wonders (up to 100 m²), Medium Marvels (101–999 m²), and Large Visions (over 1,000 m²). Each category winner will receive €20,000, and additional prizes include honorable mentions, student awards, and a special Best Presentation Award. Winning projects will gain significant international exposure through Buildner’s publicity campaign and a feature article on ArchDaily, providing a unique opportunity to showcase creative ideas to a global audience.

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025 encourages entrants to submit any type of unbuilt project, from conceptual visions to detailed designs, celebrating bold innovation without the constraints of realization. Important deadlines: registration closes on October 30, 2025; submissions are due by November 20, 2025; winners will be announced on December 17, 2025.
