Circular Structure with Gabion Walls and Metal Mesh Facade for Wine Tasting Experience

Project in-detail

The circular structure, defined by gabion walls and an expanded metal mesh facade, artfully merges with the vineyard landscape, creating an engaging space for wine tasting that emphasizes transparency and connection to nature.
5 key facts about this project
01
Circular form optimizes panoramic vineyard views.
02
Gabion walls blend structure with natural surroundings.
03
Expanded metal mesh allows for dynamic light filtering.
04
Integrated shutters adjust exposure to changing weather.
05
Interior layout promotes communal wine tasting experience.

The Monte D'oiro Wine Tasting Room is located in a beautiful vineyard and is designed to enhance the experience of wine tasting. The design focuses on clarity and connection, aiming to blend the building with the natural environment. The structure provides a space for wine tasting while also allowing visitors to enjoy views of the landscape.

Circular Configuration

The circular design of the building is key to its function. This shape allows for wide, uninterrupted views of the vineyard, letting visitors engage fully with the landscape. The open layout inside facilitates wine tasting and encourages social interaction among guests. The form also creates an inviting space that feels connected to the surrounding nature.

Facade Design

The facade of the building has two layers, combining glass and expanded metal mesh to create a balance between openness and privacy. The glass facade offers clear views of the vineyard and brings light into the interior. Meanwhile, the expanded metal mesh serves as a protective layer that filters light and adds texture. This combination fosters a sense of closeness to the natural world while maintaining comfort.

Dynamic Elements

Integrated shutters in the metal mesh facade allow the building to adapt to various weather conditions. This feature enhances energy efficiency and alters the experience inside as the day progresses. By changing the level of openness, the design keeps the space lively, reflecting the rhythm of nature surrounding it.

Nighttime Presence

At night, the building takes on a different character. When the metal mesh facade is closed, soft light escapes through the perforations, creating a gentle glow. This light diffuses into the landscape, making the structure appear less solid and blending it with the environment. The effect is calming and enhances the nighttime experience for visitors.

The inclusion of gabion walls made from locally sourced stones adds another layer to the design. These walls provide a tactile connection to the vineyard and enhance the overall appearance of the building, reinforcing its relationship with the natural surroundings.
