## Project Overview

Located in the United Arab Emirates, Heritage Horizon House reflects the region's rich history and cultural context while integrating modern architectural practices with traditional design elements. The project emphasizes the significance of understanding past architectural narratives to inform future designs. This approach prioritizes environmentally friendly practices and cultural sensitivity throughout the development process.

## Design Philosophy

### Spatial Organization and User Interaction

The architectural configuration is driven by bioclimatic principles, adeptly addressing contemporary challenges while respecting local climatic conditions and cultural heritage. The design articulates distinct flows for guests, residents, and services, promoting an efficient arrangement that ensures privacy for residents without negating hospitality. Communal spaces, such as living rooms and kitchens, are situated on the ground floor to foster social interaction, while private bedrooms on the first floor offer personal outdoor terraces.

### Materiality and Aesthetic Integration

The material selection enhances the performance and sustainability of the structure while connecting the design to the Emirati architectural vernacular. Local stone serves both structural and aesthetic purposes, complemented by wood used for finishes and structural elements, creating warmth within the interiors. Additionally, the use of plaster for wall finishes supports easy maintenance, while reflective paint minimizes heat absorption. Glass elements contribute to natural lighting, fostering a connection between interior spaces and the outdoors, enhancing overall spatial awareness.

### Sustainability Strategies

Heritage Horizon House implements various sustainable design strategies aimed at minimizing environmental impact. Performance walls enhance thermal resistance and reduce energy consumption. The incorporation of a greywater filtration system allows for resource recycling for irrigation, supporting sustainable practices. Furthermore, solar panels are integrated to harness renewable energy, demonstrating a commitment to ecological responsibility and innovative architectural solutions.
