### Project Overview

Euterria is situated in Iceland, a region characterized by its unique geological landscapes. The intention behind the design is to create a harmonious relationship between human habitation and natural surroundings. By integrating eco-friendly technologies and traditional architectural forms, the project emphasizes sustainability and an immersive experience of the local ecosystem.

### Design Concept and Spatial Strategy

The design features a cubical form transitioning to a pentagonal layout, symbolizing the fundamental elements of Earth, Water, Air, and Fire at its entry points. This arrangement serves as a metaphorical journey through the space, enhancing the connection between visitors and the natural environment. The layout of the guest hub promotes social interaction, comprising a dining area, lounge, kitchen, and reception, all oriented to maximize views of nearby lakes and the natural phenomena of the Aurora Borealis. The central hearth serves as a focal gathering point, further fostering community engagement.

### Material Selection and Sustainability Features

A careful selection of sustainable materials underscores the project’s commitment to environmental responsibility. Locally sourced wood serves both structural and aesthetic roles, while extensive glass walls in the guest hub facilitate natural light and provide panoramic views of the exterior landscape. Incorporation of geothermal components and a vertical axis wind turbine showcases innovative energy solutions, significantly reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Additionally, a rainwater collection system and a reforestation initiative enhance the site’s environmental integration, promoting local biodiversity while enriching the user experience.

Guest pods are designed with mobility in mind, allowing visitors to explore the landscape while maintaining a modern aesthetic. Each pod features large windows, ensuring unobstructed views and a connection to the natural surroundings. This design approach reflects a balance between contemporary living and environmental stewardship, creating a unique setting for guests seeking tranquility in nature.
