5 key facts about this project
The Teamakers Guest House is located in a forested area near Lake Bezdibenė, designed to provide a peaceful retreat that encourages a strong connection with nature. The building serves various purposes, including meditation, eco-fitness, and workshops on medicinal herbs and tea-making. Its design concept highlights the interaction between indoor and outdoor spaces, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the surrounding landscape.
Preservation of the Existing Structure
The design adopts a careful approach to the existing barn structure, focusing on retaining the original stone walls. These walls contribute to the building's strength and maintain its historical significance. The introduction of select openings improves circulation and allows natural light and fresh air to flow throughout the interior, creating a welcoming environment.
Spatial Configuration
On the ground floor, a large living room provides space for a variety of guest activities, such as social interactions and yoga sessions. This shared area connects to a fully equipped kitchen through an opening in the stone wall, fostering communication among guests. The dining area, which is well-lit and spacious, acts as the main gathering spot, promoting connections between visitors.
Functional Areas
The design incorporates a dedicated tea-making workshop that accommodates at least 12 participants. This space encourages hands-on learning and is connected to drying and packing areas through a spiral staircase. Large curtain walls in the workshop allow for plenty of daylight and ventilation, bridging the gap between indoor activities and the natural environment outside.
First Floor Design
The upper floor features three bedrooms and a common bathroom, arranged around a wide hallway that serves as a study area. This layout is designed to enhance accessibility and visibility between different spaces, encouraging interaction among guests. It reflects a focus on community living, creating an inviting atmosphere for social engagement.
Careful consideration of materials is evident throughout the design. Charred wood is used for the building envelope, offering durability while providing an attractive visual texture. This approach to material selection reinforces the connection to the natural environment and supports the goals of sustainability and harmonious living in the Teamakers Guest House.
