The Endless Tower is an architectural project designed as a memorial and cultural hub, situated in a context steeped in historical significance. It embodies the themes of resilience and remembrance, seeking to transform a site marked by trauma into a beacon of hope and education. The building's design integrates verticality and spatial complexity, symbolizing both elevation and aspiration. The structure employs a unique morphological approach characterized by a shrinking form as it ascends, creating a dynamic experience for occupants.

Spatial Organization The Endless Tower's internal layout is meticulously planned to serve multiple functions. The project includes classrooms, silent rooms, exhibition areas, and public engagement spaces, all designed to facilitate a variety of educational and cultural activities. The architecture allows for flexible usage, encouraging community interaction and participation. The diverse range of spaces addresses various learning styles, fostering an inclusive environment conducive to knowledge-sharing and reflection.

Unique Design Elements What distinguishes the Endless Tower from other architectural projects is its integration of cultural identity and emotional resonance. The façade features intricate decorative cut-outs that filter light and create compelling patterns within the interior spaces. Additionally, the project incorporates typographic elements representing multiple cultures, reflecting the unified narrative of learning and community. The use of local materials together with steel, glass, and stone ensures that the building honors the surrounding context while maintaining structural integrity and aesthetic appeal.

Sustainable and Cultural Approach The design prioritizes sustainability through the thoughtful selection of materials and energy-efficient systems. By using local resources, the project supports the regional economy and promotes architectural practices that align with cultural traditions. The incorporation of natural light through expansive glass facades highlights the importance of environmental considerations in the design process. Overall, the Endless Tower stands out for its commitment to creating a space that is not only functional and aesthetically pleasing but also culturally and environmentally conscious.

The Mujassam Watan Urban Sculpture Challenge invites architects and designers to create iconic public sculptures for one of two sites in Saudi Arabia: Abu Hadriyah Road or the Tharwa Sea Front in Al-Khobar. Proposals should reflect Saudi identity, culture, and future aspirations.

`

The Mujassam Watan Urban Sculpture Challenge is an international architecture and design competition inviting creatives to shape the future of Saudi Arabia’s public spaces. With a total prize fund of €50,000, the competition calls for sculptural proposals that merge cultural symbolism with innovative design, offering participants a chance to see their concepts brought to life in a rapidly transforming national context.

Organised by Buildner in partnership with the Mujassam Watan Initiative, the challenge focuses on two prominent locations: Abu Hadriyah Road, a major highway and gateway into the Eastern Province, and the Tharwa Sea Front in Al-Khobar, a pedestrian-focused waterfront district. Designers must select one site and develop a sculpture that engages with its surroundings—whether addressing the fast-paced dynamism of a transit corridor or creating moments of interaction along a coastal promenade.

Proposals should be bold, site-specific, and rooted in narrative—drawing on themes such as heritage, national identity, transformation, and dialogue. Environmental responsiveness, material durability, and feasibility are strongly encouraged, as winning projects may be selected for actual construction.

Each submission must include four A2 landscape presentation boards, a cover image, and a written project description. The competition is open to professionals and students alike, working individually or in teams of up to four people. No professional license is required.

Registration is open until July 24, 2025, with final submissions due by August 27, 2025. Winners will be announced on October 1, 2025.
