## Analytical Report on Architectural Design Project: Reconstruction of Freedom Square in Kharkiv

### Overview

The reconstruction of Freedom Square in Kharkiv, Ukraine, seeks to revitalize a historically significant urban area by integrating contemporary construction techniques with references to the site's cultural heritage. The project's intent is to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing environment that serves the community while honoring the past. This design features innovative material choices and emphasizes sustainable practices alongside the inclusion of user-oriented facilities.

### Structural Composition and Materiality

The architectural strategy involves a U-shaped administrative building that connects to the original administrative structure, historically referred to as the "Pioneers' House." The design incorporates a prominent base with grand columns to maintain a dialogue with the site's historical context. A vertical glass element enhances the structure, facilitating the influx of natural light into interior spaces. The facade features a blend of full-glazed black glass and the existing charred materials, fostering historical continuity while introducing modern aesthetics. Green roofs are proposed to incorporate nature into the urban landscape, including small cafes that encourage outdoor interaction.

### Community Focus and Accessibility

The proposal emphasizes public usability by incorporating expansive green spaces, playgrounds, and open courts that facilitate community gatherings and social interaction. Additional cultural elements, such as sculptures representing historical figures, are strategically placed to enhance community connection and appreciation. An underground parking structure is also suggested to optimize space usage while preserving the site’s natural beauty. Through the integration of learning and exhibition areas, the design aims to promote civic engagement by hosting seminars, public debates, and educational programs. This approach underscores the project’s commitment to fostering an active and interconnected urban environment.
