Casa Da Arvore is located in the Mediterranean forests of Portugal, designed as a retreat for meditation and "forest bathing." The setting enhances the project’s purpose of helping people connect with nature. The overall design focuses on creating a peaceful atmosphere to encourage quiet reflection and mindfulness away from daily life.

Architectural Layout

The retreat features a series of shed-roofed buildings that blend well with the surrounding trees. As visitors arrive, they find a small meeting space, kitchen, and seating area that overlook the southern valley. This layout fosters a warm and inviting atmosphere, allowing people to feel at home while enjoying expansive views of the natural landscape.

Central Garden

At the heart of the design is a central garden filled with water features that respond to seasonal changes. This garden adds richness to the experience, inviting visitors to engage with nature directly. Its design promotes ecological awareness and underlines the retreat's intent to provide a calming and immersive environment.

Sustainability Features

Casa Da Arvore includes innovative sustainability features, such as a pitched roof that captures rainwater, directing it into the central garden. This method effectively manages water and reduces the building's environmental impact. Additionally, the roof supports a solar panel system capable of generating energy, balancing efficient use of resources while preserving the natural views.

Interior Experience

The yoga studio provides an essential aspect of the retreat, designed with large operable glass panels that allow nature to flow inside. This connection enhances the experience, bringing in light and fresh air while creating a sense of being enveloped by the forest. The studio invites a feeling of intimacy and tranquility, essential for practices of meditation and reflection.

Casa Da Arvore creates an environment where people can connect with the natural world. The retreat combines thoughtful design and sustainability to enhance the experience of meditation and mindfulness, all within the stunning context of the Mediterranean forest. The careful arrangement of spaces and features provides a calming setting that encourages reflection and peace.
