The Quinta do Monte D'Oiro Wine Tasting Room is located amid scenic vineyards, serving as a space for wine tastings and social gatherings. The design emphasizes a strong connection to its natural surroundings, aiming to create a structure that feels like a natural extension of the landscape. The concept is rooted in simplicity and elegance, allowing visitors to engage with the environment while enjoying the wine experience.

Architectural Integration

The architecture focuses on blending with the vineyard context. Upon arrival, visitors are greeted by a courtyard with mosaic tile paving that guides them into a welcoming inner space. This courtyard features a brick screen that enhances privacy while connecting visually to the rolling landscape. The screen’s design draws on local architectural styles, grounding the building within its setting.

Interior Functionality

Inside, the wine tasting room centers around a long communal table that encourages guests to interact. The arrangement is designed for collective enjoyment during tastings. Traditional elements of Portuguese architecture inform the design, while contemporary features improve usability. The southeast wall is notable for its thick wood posts, which serve both structural and practical purposes as shelving for wine bottles.

Connection to Landscape

The design creates a thoughtful relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces. The tile floor extends towards the terrace, blurring the lines between the two areas. Large glass doors on the southwest wall allow natural light to flood the room while offering views of the vineyards. This connection to the landscape enriches the experience for visitors, inviting them to engage with the natural beauty surrounding them.

At the entrance, grapevines overhead provide a thematic link to winemaking, setting the stage for what lies ahead. This detail enhances the atmosphere and creates an immersive experience for all who enter, emphasizing the essence of the winery and its connection to the land.
