Brass Accents and Gold-Painted Deck Enhance Vineyard Tasting Pavilion

Project in-detail

Brass window frames and a gold-painted deck define a pavilion that offers panoramic views of the vineyards, creating an immersive environment for wine tasting.
5 key facts about this project
01
Brass window frames reduce maintenance needs and enhance durability.
02
The gold-painted deck reflects light, adding warmth to the environment.
03
A mechanical shading system optimizes indoor comfort throughout the seasons.
04
Open wings of the pavilion create a welcoming gesture towards the landscape.
05
The layout promotes a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces.

The Wine Point of View is located in the scenic vineyards of Quinta do Monte d'Oiro, serving as a wine tasting pavilion that captures the essence of Portuguese winemaking. The design encourages a connection between visitors and the landscape, using the topography to maximize views while facilitating a smooth flow between indoor and outdoor areas.

Spatial Organization

The layout of the pavilion is carefully positioned at the northwest edge of the property to take advantage of sweeping views over the vineyards and sky. Covering around 230 square meters, the interior is flexible, designed to host various activities that range from small tastings to larger events. This arrangement enhances interaction and engagement, providing a rich experience that highlights the surroundings.

Materiality

The design makes thoughtful choices in materials. Brass window frames are used, offering a mix of functionality and modern style. Solar panels are integrated into the design, demonstrating a commitment to sustainable energy use. A shading system helps to control sunlight entering the space, while a concrete wall acts as thermal mass, helping to maintain a comfortable indoor climate throughout the seasons.

Architectural Expression

The form of the pavilion reflects a contemporary take on traditional winery designs. The open wings of the structure evoke a feeling of embracing the landscape, allowing natural light to fill the space. The gold-painted deck adds a touch of warmth, reflecting sunlight and enhancing the environment. This design choice emphasizes the importance of experiencing the vineyard as part of the tasting journey.

The layout leads visitors along a golden path, guiding them through a thoughtful exploration of the relationship between the built environment and the vineyard. This journey invites a deeper appreciation for the local culture and the sensory experience of wine tasting.
