Black Stone Walls Framing White Façades in a Vineyard Tasting Space

Project in-detail

Black stone walls function as both structural elements and exhibition spaces for wine bottles.
02

05
Pathways guide visitors through the space, enhancing the journey from entrance to tasting areas.

The Quinta do Monte d'Oiro winery is located in the scenic region of Monte d'Oiro, where the relationship between the building and the natural landscape is at the forefront of its design. It serves as a place for both wine production and tasting, offering visitors an experience that engages the senses. The design concept emphasizes a journey, allowing people to connect with the surroundings as they navigate through the space.

Materiality

The winery showcases a carefully chosen palette that includes white rough façades and smooth corners. These elements create a pleasing contrast. The curved clay tile roofing adds a soft, organic touch, while black stone walls provide stability and a sense of permanence. These materials contribute to the winery's visual identity and ensure its functionality within the landscape.

Spatial Organization

Visitors enter through a narrow walkway that leads them toward the tasting room. This pathway is bordered by a black stone wall, which serves both as a guide and as a display area for wine bottles. As visitors move through this space, they are drawn toward an inviting area that connects indoor and outdoor settings. Here, people can enjoy wine and take in the scenery of the surrounding vineyards.

Connection to Landscape

The design effectively highlights the connection to the natural environment. Visitors can easily transition between different spaces, creating a flow that feels natural. An engraved logo in the concrete floor acts as a welcoming sign and point of interest. The layout includes both communal areas for gathering and smaller spaces for more intimate experiences, catering to various social interactions.

Detailing

Integration with landscaping enhances the relationship between the winery and its setting. Natural elements invite visitors to engage more fully with the site. The arrangement of pathways and the careful placement of spaces contribute to a harmonious experience. The combination of thoughtful design and material choices creates a welcoming atmosphere that resonates with its picturesque surroundings.
