The Monte D'Oiro Wine Tasting venue is located in Estremadura, Alenquer, Portugal, dedicated to showcasing the diverse wines produced by the local vineyard. Set along the edge of the Quintas do Monte D'Oiro Vineyard, the design features an L-shaped plan that optimizes both accessibility and functionality. Visitors can engage with the space, appreciating both the architectural form and the natural beauty surrounding it.

Concept and Navigation

The design uses a central entryway axis that divides the venue into functional areas. On one side, there is the main tasting room, and on the opposite side, the bar and lounge area. This configuration supports various visitor experiences, from lively gatherings to quieter tastings. Support spaces like restrooms and storage are positioned along the lounge wing to enhance convenience while keeping the focus on the experience.

Materiality and Aesthetic

Material choices play an important role in creating the venue’s atmosphere. The exterior features white stucco alongside wooden paneling, establishing a warm and inviting setting. Large glass panels allow natural light to enter the space and provide views of the vineyard. This openness not only enhances the aesthetic but also promotes fresh air circulation, contributing to comfort.

Interior Configuration

Inside, the space is designed to engage and welcome visitors. A corridor with ample skylights leads to the reception area, transitioning smoothly into the main tasting room. The barrel-top ceiling adds an interesting textural element that connects the design to the vineyard's history. The main tasting area includes a table for fourteen people, as well as smaller tables that create opportunities for more private gatherings. This thoughtful arrangement accommodates different preferences among guests.

Connection to Landscape

The lounge area extends the wine tasting experience by featuring comfortable seating that promotes conversation. Large sliding doors offer uninterrupted views of the vineyard, creating a connection between indoor and outdoor settings. The accessible terrace level enhances visitor engagement, with small tables designed for intimate gatherings while ensuring ease of movement for all guests.

The design elements come together to create an environment where visitors can appreciate both the wines and the tranquil setting that surrounds them.
