Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?
Our practical project involvement was limited during our studies, we gained valuable experience through internships. One member of our group worked on a small housing project, contributed to the design of convention centers, and participated in a preservation project in Germany. Other did mostly residential related topic like villa, type-1 housing or apartment.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
In our society, architects play a crucial role as visionaries and problem solvers. They are responsible for shaping the built environment, ensuring sustainability, and preserving cultural heritage. Architects are also advocates for social equity, designing spaces that promote inclusivity and accessibility for all.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
We participate in architecture competitions because we are eager to explore opportunities beyond Vietnam. These competitions provide a platform to showcase our skills and creativity on a global stage, helping us understand our position within the international architectural community. Additionally, with some free time on our hands, we see these competitions as a productive way to challenge ourselves, gain new experiences, and grow professionally.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
Frankly, we think competitions have topics you may not going to see that much. For example this... It is not an everyday project: "THE LAST NUCLEAR BOMB MEMORIAL"? This gives us a different perspective within the school campus, more open and less conventional. It allows you to step outside your comfort zone, think creatively, and develop unique solutions to complex problems. This experience can be incredibly enriching and beneficial for your growth as an architect.
