Hamzeh Ahmad Hasan Al-Thweib

Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.

Hamzeh Al-Thweib is an architect from Amman, Jordan. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Jordan and a Master's degree in Media Architecture from Bauhaus University in Germany, He has worked as an architect in Amman for Dar Al Omran, Dr. Rasem Badran, and DAR Dubai. Currently, he is based in Germany, working in the fields of visualization and software development. Alongside his professional work, he regularly participates in design and architecture competitions.

Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?

Hamzeh has gained experience working on high-rise residential buildings and large-scale developments in Amman. His current focus lies in integrating automation into the architectural design process and advancing architectural visualization. Combined, we offer a diverse set of skills across multiple project scales, blending technical proficiency with conceptual insight.

What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?

From Hamzeh’s point of view, growing up in Jordan has shaped an understanding of architecture as the integration of a society’s cultural and historical values into design, while also responding to rapid construction processes and the realities of contemporary living. Architecture, in his eyes, is not a privilege but a basic necessity that influences how we live every day. It offers comfort and establishes lasting, inhabitable spaces.

Why do you participate in architecture competitions?

Taking part in architecture competitions is primarily about learning, discovering new ideas, and pushing ourselves beyond the limits of daily practice. They offer the freedom to experiment and evolve as designers. In this case, we view it as a meaningful chance to collaborate for the first time and to merge our individual perspectives and skills within a shared creative journey.

What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?

It really comes down to what you want to achieve. If your aim is to explore fresh concepts, challenge your creativity, and engage with like-minded professionals, competitions can offer valuable experiences. They keep your skills sharp and your imagination active. Still, it’s worth remembering that they require time and effort—and winning isn’t always certain.
