What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
Architecture is a powerful expression of human culture, identity, and values. It's more than just the design and construction of buildings; it's about creating spaces or objects that reflect and influence how we live, interact, and understand the world. Architecture can shape experiences, evoke emotions, and tell stories. It carries the weight of history, tradition, and innovation, while also pushing boundaries and exploring new possibilities.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
Because they offer a unique platform to explore and express innovative ideas without the constraints typically found in traditional projects. Competitions challenge us to think creatively, push boundaries, and experiment with new concepts and techniques that might not be feasible in everyday practice.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
Clarify Your Goals, Evaluate the Time Commitment, Choose Competitions that Align with Your Interests, Consider the Learning Experience, Network and Exposure, Embrace the Challenge, Reflect on Past Experiences, and collaborate with the right people.
