Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?
Our respective firms primarily focus on large-scale hospitality and commercial developments. Both of us work as designers and actively incorporate parametric workflows into our design processes, which allow us to explore innovative solutions and enhance project outcomes.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
For us, architecture is about creating spaces that evoke emotions and connect people to their surroundings. It’s about designing at various scales while celebrating local craftsmanship, culture, and history, and reinterpreting them within the context of modern society. As architects, our role is to lead by example and create environments that balance functionality, beauty, and cultural significance.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
Participating in architecture competitions allows us to break free from the routine of everyday practical projects, providing a creative outlet and an opportunity to push the boundaries of conventional thinking. These competitions challenge us to think innovatively, refine our software skills, and deepen our research-based approaches, all of which contribute significantly to our professional growth. They also keep us motivated and energized in ways that regular work often cannot.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
We strongly encourage everyone in the field to participate in competitions as frequently as possible. The knowledge gained and the professional development achieved through these challenges are unmatched. Competitions test your ability to solve creative problems in ways that academic projects or client briefs seldom do, making them invaluable for anyone seeking to grow as a designer.
