Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.
We are architecture students from Warsaw University of Technology, currently on our 5th year. Each of us has participated in various international exchange programs — to cities such as Lisbon, Brussels, Madrid, Detroit, or Amsterdam — but what connects us is Warsaw.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?
As architecture students, we have participated in a wide variety of academic projects, ranging from small-scale shelters and single-family homes to large urban developments. Most of us are also professionally active, gaining valuable experience through involvement in both small and large-scale projects. We believe that working with diverse building types enriches us, broadens our perspective, and opens us up to new opportunities. We strive to gain this experience by taking part in competitions, joining academic trips, and working in the architectural field.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
We believe architecture is not just a bridge between art and science, but a way of shaping realities that spark meaningful dialogue with society. The architect’s role goes beyond form-making—it's about creating spaces that respond to evolving needs and nurture identity, connection, and belonging. In a world of constant social, environmental, and cultural change, we see architecture as an act of care: a responsive, thoughtful practice that supports the well-being of individuals and communities.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
We see architecture competitions as a fantastic opportunity to step out of our comfort zones and take on unique, thought-provoking challenges. They allow us to explore diverse ideas, cultures, and perspectives. Most importantly, they provide a space for creative freedom and self-expression.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
Risk it for the biscuit!
