Please tell us about your company (when it was founded, where it is based, how many employees, etc) Alternatively, if you do not have a company, please give us some insights on your own professional/academia background.
I recently graduated with a Master’s degree in Architecture from Epoka University in Tirana, Albania, and I’m currently working on shaping my path after university. During my studies, I focused on architecture with an interest in social issues and how design can impact people’s lives. Right now, I’m building a portfolio that reflects these interests and helps me grow professionally.
Brief information about the projects that you/your company have been involved with. For instance, what scale have you focused on/preferred, any significant projects where the company/ individuals have been Involved?
I’ve worked on a variety of projects, mainly through academic work and some personal design experience. These have ranged from interior spaces to larger urban concepts, often focused on social and contextual themes. Each one helped me better understand the kind of architecture I want to continue exploring.
What does architecture mean to you and what is the role of an architect in your society?
To me, architecture is a tool for shaping the world we live in. It goes beyond buildings and allows us to improve lives, solve problems, and influence how people experience their surroundings. I see it as something flexible, where every architect chooses how to use it. In my society, I believe the role of the architect is to create spaces that respond to real needs, support social progress, and make everyday life better for people.
Why do you participate in architecture competitions?
I participate in architecture competitions as a way to continue learning and developing my approach to design. They give me the freedom to explore different aspects of architecture and engage with ideas that go beyond everyday practice. Competitions also allow me to express my design voice and test how my thinking responds to diverse challenges and briefs. Beyond personal growth, I deeply value the opportunity to learn from others. I enjoy seeing how people from different backgrounds approach the same topic, and I find it inspiring to be part of a creative community. For me, competitions create a space where young architects can exchange ideas, inspire one another, and grow together through design.
What advice would you give to individuals who struggle to decide whether it would be beneficial for them to participate in architecture competitions?
I hope everyone gets the chance to participate because it’s a great way to shape yourself as a designer. It’s an investment in your growth, it’s fun, and it’s one of the best ways to learn while also sharing ideas with others. Competitions give you the chance to work on different topics, improve your skills, and sometimes even collaborate with a team. If you value the field of architecture, this is an opportunity worth taking.
