5 key facts about this project
01
Constructed with locally sourced birch and pine plywood.
02
Modular design allows for flexible reconfiguration by users.
03
Integration of a bar that doubles as seating and performance space.
04
Transportable structure enhances adaptability for various events.
05
Functions as a community hub during festival gatherings.

The food court is designed as a lively gathering space set within a festival environment, encouraging community interaction and shared experiences. It is centered around the idea of the Commons, which focuses on community involvement in managing public areas. The design balances functionality with the festival's energetic atmosphere, inviting people to engage in a welcoming and dynamic setting.

Conceptual Framework
The framework of the pavilion relies on a modular approach that allows for flexibility in its use. The bar, which also serves as seating, promotes participation by enabling users to rearrange the space according to their specific needs. This adaptability enhances the overall experience, making the area more inviting for attendees.

Spatial Dynamics
The pavilion is designed to support various activities and performances. The seating can be easily reconfigured to create stages, making the space more versatile for cultural expression. This design fosters an easy flow of movement, encouraging visitors to connect with one another as they navigate through the festival.

Material Consideration
Reflecting its context within Latvia, the pavilion uses locally sourced birch and pine plywood. Wooden pegs and screws connect the elements, promoting environmental sustainability while ensuring stability. This choice of materials establishes a link between the pavilion and its natural surroundings, reinforcing its relevance to the local community.

User Engagement
The ability to transport and reconfigure the pavilion allows it to adapt to the different needs of the festival. The stair platform not only provides access but also serves as an inviting area for social interaction. As people gather, they find themselves in a space that supports performances, with the roof providing a backdrop for spontaneous events that contribute to the festival's lively atmosphere.
