The Soul of Sansusi project presents a thoughtful focus on community interaction at the Sansusi Festival. The food court, designed as the central feature, functions not only as a place to eat but also as a social hub for attendees. The overall concept emphasizes shared experiences, with a key element being a central fire that represents warmth and connection, encouraging people to gather.

Central Gathering Space

A central fire acts as a warm invitation for festival-goers to come together. This feature draws people in, fostering conversations and promoting social activities. The fire serves a practical purpose while also embodying the spirit of the festival, helping to strengthen bonds among community members during the event.

Transitioning Spatial Dynamics

The design skillfully moves away from enclosed spaces to a more open layout. Initially, safety walls and barriers provide structure. However, as the event evolves, these elements transition to a bonfire setting, allowing for a more inclusive environment. This change supports fluid interactions among participants, enhancing their experience and encouraging deeper connections within the festival.

Catering Organization

The catering area is thoughtfully arranged in a rectangular layout that promotes efficient food service. This organization allows for a smooth flow of culinary options during the festival. Functionality is a key aspect of this design choice, ensuring that the food court becomes a lively spot for social interaction and community engagement.

Ecological Integration

After the festival ends, plans for the area include an ecological transition. The space occupied by the fire will return to a natural state, using burned wood and leftover food to improve soil quality and support future plant growth. This aspect highlights a commitment to sustainability and reflects the festival’s connection to the local environment.

At the heart of the design, the glowing central fire sets the scene for gatherings, creating a place where stories can be shared, laughter can be exchanged, and a sense of community flourishes.
