The design focused on the Sansus Festival aims to enhance cultural and social interactions during this lively event. Set in a vibrant atmosphere, the layout emphasizes simplicity and openness, creating a space that encourages attendees to engage with one another. The concept centers around the idea of "encounter," which reflects the connections formed between people and the various activities happening throughout the festival.

Roof Structure

A large roof serves as a central element of the design. It interacts with different volumes that accommodate caterer workspaces. By rising above the ground, the roof creates a protected area while maintaining an open feel. This allows visitors to see the bustling activities taking place below. With its expansive presence, the roof fosters a welcoming atmosphere that supports community interaction.

Spatial Organization

The arrangement of spaces reveals a continuous connection between the outside and inside, made possible by the roof. The volumes puncturing the roof create unique intersections, showcasing the collaboration of various architectural elements. These moments of connection bridge individual experiences with communal activities, enhancing the social fabric of the festival environment.

Material Considerations

The design references local architectural traditions through a wooden frame structure that connects with the surrounding context. The roof is covered with cedar shingles, which help it blend into the natural environment. Inside, the volumes consist of typical wooden stalls that transition into polycarbonate panels as they extend through the roof. These panels allow daylight to filter into the space and become illuminated at night, adding to the atmosphere.

The thoughtful approach to design captures the lively essence of the Sansus Festival, combining modern elements with traditional influences. The overall result creates an environment that values public spaces and encourages personal interactions. The gentle curve of the roof, along with its carefully placed openings, creates a dynamic play of light and shadow, enriching the experience for all who visit.
