Incorporating porcelain and subway tiles, the design prioritizes employee well-being through biophilic elements and a hybrid workspace structure that supports both collaborative and individual work functions.
5 key facts about this project
01
Flexible multi-level layout enhances employee interaction and promotes physical activity.
02
Biophilic design elements integrate natural light and outdoor views throughout the workspace.
03
Porcelain and subway tiles are specifically chosen for their cleanliness and durability in high-traffic areas.
04
Dedicated green spaces provide employees with areas for relaxation and informal meetings.
05
The workspace supports a hybrid model, allowing for both collaborative and individual work environments.

The design responds to contemporary needs by creating adaptable workspaces suitable for a post-COVID world. Located in an urban setting, the aim is to blend comfort with practicality. It seeks to accommodate the diverse needs of employees while fostering a productive and collaborative environment. Central to the design concept is a hybrid approach that supports both remote work and in-office collaboration.

Design Concept

The main idea focuses on establishing a workspace that combines the welcoming feel of home with the functionality of a traditional office. Employee feedback highlights a preference for flexibility, with many wanting to split their time between the office and home. The design intends to break away from the cold, impersonal nature of conventional offices, striving instead to create a warm and engaging atmosphere that nurtures creativity and well-being.

Spatial Organization

The layout features a multi-level design that enhances movement and interaction between different functions. Organizing spaces across several levels encourages physical activity and promotes collaboration. Key areas include open workstations, private offices, lounges, and shared facilities. Each space is carefully arranged to accommodate varying work styles, making it easy for teams to come together.

Materiality

Materials are chosen with care, emphasizing hygiene and practicality. Porcelain tiles and commercial-grade subway tiles are used in high-traffic areas to maintain cleanliness. These materials not only provide durability but also contribute to the visual appeal of the environment. This consideration reflects a commitment to ensuring a safe and comfortable workspace for all employees.

Natural Integration

The design incorporates elements of nature, enhancing the overall experience for users. By allowing natural light into the workspace and providing views of the outdoors, the design seeks to foster a sense of connection with the surrounding environment. Incorporating green spaces and terraces introduces a calming effect, providing areas where employees can relax and recharge.

In the lounge area, comfortable seating and a thoughtful color palette create a welcoming environment for informal meetings and social gatherings. This provides a dedicated space for employees to collaborate and take breaks, supporting their overall well-being.

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025: Celebrating Architectural Creativity and Visionary Unbuilt Designs with a Total Prize Fund of €100,000

`
Competition organisers

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025 is an international architecture competition dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the value of unrealized architectural designs. It invites architects, designers, and students worldwide to submit visionary projects that have not yet been constructed, highlighting the power of ideas and the creativity behind the design process. By focusing on unbuilt work, the competition aims to bring forward concepts that shape the future of architecture and push the boundaries of the profession.

Participants can compete in three categories based on project scale: Small Wonders (up to 100 m²), Medium Marvels (101–999 m²), and Large Visions (over 1,000 m²). Each category winner will receive €20,000, and additional prizes include honorable mentions, student awards, and a special Best Presentation Award. Winning projects will gain significant international exposure through Buildner’s publicity campaign and a feature article on ArchDaily, providing a unique opportunity to showcase creative ideas to a global audience.

The Buildner’s Unbuilt Award 2025 encourages entrants to submit any type of unbuilt project, from conceptual visions to detailed designs, celebrating bold innovation without the constraints of realization. Important deadlines: registration closes on October 30, 2025; submissions are due by November 20, 2025; winners will be announced on December 17, 2025.
