The Kingspan MICROHOME 2026 invites architects and designers to explore the power of restraint — to create more by building less. Now in its 11th edition, this international competition organized by Buildner in partnership with Kingspan challenges participants to design an off-grid modular micro dwelling of no more than 25 m². Continuing the MICROHOME series’ legacy, it calls for innovative, sustainable, and human-scaled design solutions that demonstrate how small living can create big impact.
With a total prize fund of €100,000, the competition seeks ideas that rethink the boundaries of compact architecture and propose new ways of living lightly on the planet. Projects will be judged for their originality, efficiency, and ability to offer meaningful responses to contemporary environmental and social challenges.
The final registration deadline is 30 September 2026, and winners will be announced on 15 December 2026. The competition is open to all — no professional qualifications are required — and entries may be submitted individually or in teams of up to four members.
