The Accordion takes a modern approach to kiosk design, situated in urban environments where usability is key. Its main focus is on flexibility, allowing the structure to shift from a closed form to an open space for various activities. The design engages with its surroundings, aiming to connect with the local environment while establishing a strong presence.

Structure and Form

The design emphasizes movement as a central feature. This characteristic allows for interaction, enabling users to engage with the kiosk in multiple ways. The compact structure supports different functions, making it suitable for various urban contexts. It is designed to be efficient and practical, fitting into busy spaces without taking up unnecessary room.

Materiality and Aesthetics

The use of selective claddings and distinct color schemes is important in The Accordion's design. These materials not only enhance the visual appeal but also create a sense of connection to the surroundings. The focus on thoughtful material choices supports both aesthetic and practical needs, ensuring that the structure is easy to maintain and integrates well with its environment.

User Engagement

The adaptable nature of The Accordion invites people to use it for a range of activities. This flexibility allows it to serve as a gathering spot, enhancing the experience for users and connecting it to the community. The ability to change from closed to open states makes it a versatile feature in urban life, encouraging interaction and involvement among residents.

The relationship between the smooth surfaces and the structure's adaptability creates a dynamic experience for those who encounter it. The Accordion stands as a notable structure that reflects the character of its location, providing both functionality and a sense of place.
