### Project Overview

Located in the forests of Latvia, the "Moment" building is designed as a yoga house that aims to foster mindfulness and a connection to nature. The structure is conceptualized to serve as a sanctuary for users, emphasizing introspection while responding to the natural environment.

### Spatial Organization and Functionality

The layout features a series of wooden panels, punctuated by voids that vary in height, reflecting the natural profiles of the surrounding trees. This design creates a dynamic interior environment that facilitates both communal engagement and private reflection. The open central space is designated for yoga activities, while private studios flank this area, allowing for individual practice. Each space is oriented to maximize natural light and provide views of the forest, enhancing the user experience and fostering a direct connection with the outdoors.

### Material Selection and Environmental Considerations

The material palette is carefully curated to align with sustainable practices and enhance the user experience. Local timber is prominently used for its structural qualities and visual harmony with the forest. Extensive use of glass ensures light-filled interiors while maintaining visibility to the surrounding landscape. Concrete components provide structural durability, complementing the organic materials used throughout the project. Passive cooling strategies and natural ventilation systems have been integrated to minimize energy consumption, demonstrating a commitment to ecological sustainability.

The competition continues Buildner’s mission to foster innovative approaches to compact, energy-efficient housing that can address pressing global challenges.

This year’s edition offers a generous total prize fund of €100,000, including the Kingspan Award for designs that integrate high-performance Kingspan products and the Hapi Homes Award for a project selected for real-world construction. In addition to cash prizes, the winners gain international exposure through Buildner’s media partnerships, publications, and a dedicated MICROHOME magazine, further amplifying their ideas to the wider architectural community.

Key dates for MICROHOME 10 include the closing date for registration on 25 September 2025, the submission deadline on 29 October 2025 (11:59 p.m. London time), and the announcement of winners on 9 December 2025.
