Marshall Blecher runs the Copenhagen-based Marshall Blecher Studio. His portfolio includes Copenhagen Islands, a cluster of roaming artificial islands designed in collaboration with Studio Fokstrot, set to be built in Copenhagen's harbour as a public park.

Greg Corso of Syracuse NY-based SPORTS Collaborative is a designer from California. Greg received both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Architecture from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). He has worked in art and architecture studios in the United States and Europe including Studio Gang, JDS Architects, and Cliff Garten Studio and has been a fellow at the MacDowell Colony. Greg has taught architecture and design at Woodbury University, The University of Illinois at Chicago, and is currently an Assistant Professor at Syracuse University, School of Architecture.

Jake Heffington is an award-winning architect in Raleigh, North Carolina, lecturer at North Carolina State University's College of Design, and activist promoting equity and justice in design and development. He is the founder of and other works, co-founder of readings on race, and founder and Executive Director of [Diversify Architecture].

Borghildur Indriðadóttir is an artist that lives and works in Reykjavík, Iceland. She has previously worked at Studio Olafur Eliasson, and has collaborated to produce installations such as MEAT shown in Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz, and as an actress and designer for Club Inferno staged by Volksbühne Berlin.

Kyle Schumann is Cofounder of After Architecture and Assistant Professor at the University of Virginia. He is recipient of the Tennessee Architecture Fellowship, the RAMSA Fellowship, the Robert James Eidlitz Fellowship, and was named Next Progressive by Architect Magazine. His work explores how democratized and accessible technologies can empower designers to utilize nontraditional and irregular natural materials.

Erik “Rick” Sommerfeld is an Architect, Assistant Professor and the Director of ColoradoBuildingWorkshop, the design-build program at the University of Colorado Denver. The program embraces small projects with tight budgets, short timelines and challenging site constraints to create innovative architectural solutions.

 

The Iceland Volcano Lookout Tower Competition is part of Buildner’ Small Scale Architecture Appreciation Movement showcasing small projects that contain big ideas. Winning projects will be featured in ARCHHIVE BOOKS’ publication series, What is Small-Scale Architecture?
